The Microsoft Xbox One S and the Sony PS4 Slim are both new for 2016, and they will be seeing significant discounts on Black Friday this year. While there have been rumblings regarding discounts on the new PS4 Pro, it appears as though most of them are scheduled for Cyber Monday. The Nintendo Wii U is on its way out, and announced deals have been scarce so far. Regardless, we are expecting to learn about new deals over the next week, and you can always get your hands on a 3DS if you are looking to stick with Nintendo.
Here are the best deals for the important gaming consoles this year, and they are the only ones we recommend purchasing.
Microsoft Xbox One S
Released this past summer, the Microsoft Xbox One S is available in three sizes — 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB. They retail for $299.99, $349.99, and $399.99, respectively, and most deals will see discounts of $50. Regardless, there are a few star offers that stand above the rest. Please note, there are currently no deals on the Xbox One S 2 TB.
Xbox One S 500 GB Battlefield 1 Bundle + Gears of War 4 + Extra Controller for $249.99 (save $170) (Dell)
Dell is offering the 500 GB Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Bundle with Gears of War 4 and an extra controller for only $249.99, which is a discount of $170 from the normal retail price of $419.99. Most other stores are simply selling the 500 GB Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Bundle for $249.99 with nothing else. While it is still a discount of $50 if you purchase it elsewhere, Dell is giving you the additional game and controller for free. This will go live on Dell's website on Thanksgiving at 6 p.m., so make sure your account is in good standing — this will be sold out quickly.
Xbox One S 1 TB Battlefield 1 Special Edition Bundle + Xbox Wireless Controller for $299.99 (save $114.99) (Best Buy)
Best Buy is offering the Xbox One S 1 TB Battlefield 1 Special Edition Bundle with a free wireless controller for $299.99, which is a discount of $114.99 from the retail price of $414.98. The picture only shows the bundle, but the complete ad shows that Best Buy is offering the free controller with any Xbox One S 1 TB Bundle, so the choice is really yours. With regards to other 1 TB bundle deals, the added controller makes this the best one. Most other stores are simply offering the bundle for $299.99, which is a straight discount of $50. If possible, get it at Best Buy.
Xbox One S 500GB Battlefield 1 or Minecraft Bundle + $40 Gift Card for $249.99 (save $50) (Target)
Target is offering $50 off any Xbox One S 500 GB bundle and also throwing in a $40 gift card. Like most stores, Target is selling their Xbox One S 500 GB bundles for $249.99, which is the same basic discount of $50. To sweeten the deal, they are also including the gift card, which gives the entire thing a net price of $209.99. If you happen to be a frequent Target shopper, then this is an amazing deal. If you do not see yourself shopping at Target in the future, then this deal loses some of its value.
Xbox One S 500 GB Minecraft 1 + $75 in Kohl's Cash for $249.99 (save $50) (Kohl's)
Kohl's is offering their Xbox One S 500 GB Minecraft 1 Bundle for $249.99, which is the same basic price that most other retailers are offering. The difference here is that you will also receive $75 in Kohl's Cash, which brings the net price down to $174.99. In other words, frequent Kohl's shoppers will absolutely love this deal.
Sony PS4 Slim
Released this past September, the PS4 Slim replaced the original PS4 console, and it retails for $299.99. Released on November 10, the PS4 Pro retailers for $399.99, but there are unlikely to be a ton of discount on Black Friday. Regardless, we have received word of a few sales for the PS4 Pro on Cyber Monday, so stay tuned. For now, here are the star offers on the PS4 Slim.
PlayStation 4 Slim 500GB Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Bundle + The Last of Us: Remastered and Ratchet & Clank Games for $249.99 (save $50+) (Best Buy)
Best Buy is offering easily the best deal on a PS4 bundle this year, and we highly recommend you stop here with your search. Most retailers are offering the PS4 Slim Uncharted 4 bundle for $249.99, which is a respectable discount of $50. Best Buy is offering the same bundle, but they are also including two games for free. The value of each game is not listed in the ad, but the savings are well over $50 when they are factored into the equation.
Sony PlayStation 4 Slim (PS4) Uncharted 4 Bundle + $75 Kohl's Cash (Kohl's)
Kohl's is offering the popular PS4 Slim Uncharted Bundle for $249.99, which is a discount of $50. There is nothing at all special about that price, but they are also including Kohl's Cash valued at $75, which makes this one of the top gaming deals of the year. If you factor in the Kohl's Cash, the net price actually comes out to $174.99. As with their Xbox One S deal, this is perfect for those who do a lot of shopping at Kohl's. While many gamers would prefer Best Buy's offer with the extra games, this one still has a lot of appeal. It has been confirmed to be available online on Thanksgiving, too.
PlayStation 4 Slim Uncharted 4 500GB Bundle + The Last Of Us Remastered or Ratchet & Clank for $249.99 (save $50) (GameStop)
GameStop is offering the Uncharted 4 PS4 Slim Bundle for $249.99, which is a discount of $50. They are also giving shoppers the option of adding in one of the following two games for free — The Last Of Us Remastered or Ratchet & Clank. As you saw with the Best Buy deal, they have the same exact offer, but they are giving shoppers both games. Since GameStop is giving you at least one additional game, their deal is better than most, but it still pales in comparison to the Best Buy offer.
Playstation 4 Slim Uncharted 4 500GB Bundle w/ $30 Gift Card for $249 (save $50) (Walmart)
Walmart is offering a $30 gift card with their Uncharted 4 bundles this year, which gives the entire thing a net price of $229. While this is one of the better offers, the Kohl's Cash deal is still far superior to this one. Either way, there is no reason you should simply pay $249.99 for a new PS4. You should either take advantage of a "store credit" offer like this one and the one at Kohl's, or you should take advantage of an additional game offer like at Best Buy and GameStop.
Nintendo Wii U and 3DS
While the Nintendo Wii U has been one of the most popular items on our website over the past few years, there is a disappointing lack of deals this year. And when we say lack, we actually mean there are no deals at all. You can still get your hands on a brand new Wii U from Amazon, but there are unlikely to be a ton of sales even there.
The Nintendo 3DS is actually one of the biggest surprises this year, with a low starting price of $99.99. The only issue is that stores are not being creative at all with their deals, and it is $99.99 everywhere for either the Nintendo 3DS Super Mario Black or White Edition. Regardless, here are a few stores that are carrying it this year.
